Hazardous Household Waste and Electronics Recycling

Port Allegany Borough has partnered with the McKean County Conservation District’s Recycling Department and Environmental Coordination Services and Recycling (ECS&R) to offer an Electronics and Household Hazardous Waste Recycling event on August 5, 2017 at the Borough’s Offices in Port Allegany.

This event is open to all residents of McKean and Potter County and will be held from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the Borough Parking Lot. Residents can dispose of electronics, mercury containing devices, fluorescent bulbs, cleaning chemicals, paint, solvents, and other hazardous household chemicals. ECS&R charges a minimal fee for the collection, transportation, recycling and disposal of these items. ECS&R will help unload your vehicle, sort and weigh your items, and collect payment the day of the event. Payment can be made with cash, check, money order, or credit card.

Pre-registration is required and you will be able to schedule a time to drop off your materials when you register. Pre-registration can be done via phone by calling the McKean County Conservation District at (814) 887-4017 or you can register on line at www.ecsr.net. From the ECS&R website, click on the tab for homeowner recycling, select collection registration, and then click on the link for the August 5, 2017 event in McKean County and complete the registration form on line.

These events help keep our towns clean and welcoming and they discourage illegal dumping of these types of wastes by offering an easy, convenient, and low cost way to properly dispose of these products. Recycling electronics waste also helps keep hazardous materials out of the landfill, protecting our environment. The Borough thanks those who participate in these programs throughout the region.
