Journey Health System established its first college scholarship contest for children and grandchildren of employees as well as employees seeking to further their education. The program was established to assist students preparing to enter college in a degree program in the healthcare field. The scholarship program awarded two $1000 prizes in this inaugural year.

“Our goal is to encourage the healthcare leaders of tomorrow,” said Richard Seager, President and CEO of Journey Health System. “And where better to start than right within the families of our own employees.”

Interested students had to submit an application, letter of acceptance from an accredited college or university, and write an essay on the topic of what person or event had the greatest impact on their life and chosen topic of study.

Nikol Chew was a recipient of $1000 in the 2017 Scholarship contest. Nikol is planning to attend Robert Morris University to study Nursing. She is the daughter of Angela and Rick Chew. Angela Chew is DCI's Clinical Director in Ridgway.

Gloriana Proper was also a recipient of a $1000 scholarship. She is the daughter of Angel Gressell, an employee at Beacon Light, and plans to study Nursing at Gannon University this fall.

Congratulations to both young women and best wishes for their future schooling ahead.
