Oswayo Borough Seeking Sealed Bids For Winter Road Maintenance

This is what Austin should do ! Then maybe the roads would get plowed and cindered before 10 am ! That is except when they are on overtime then you see them out and about doing what little they have to !
The problem is...no contractors want to do it because they have to deal with residents you can't make happy and in-fighting among borough officials. If you find a contractor charitable enough to do it at a reasonable rate...you better hang on to them and treat them with some common courtesy. People don't take in to consideration, they have registration, insurance, fuel, non-skid, maintenance, labor, and drive time. Look at where we live. Although, I agree for the sake of school buses and children that roads need plowed well before 10AM, there is a price to be paid for country living. If your town already has the means to plow snow, why would you want to spend additional monies on a contractor? If it's merely in hopes that they would plow before 10AM...I would say that is a little misguided. Why not get involved in the process? Voice your concerns to the community and ask questions of your local officials. Like, why are the streets not being plowed before 10AM? Or why can't the schedule be flexible to eliminate overtime? During the hard winter months, maybe people should ask themselves..."Am I being ridiculous with my demands, of a most likely over-burdened township, and it's underpaid workers?" before ranting on the internet. Lastly, I'm not sure how Austin works but in most communities...these are elected servants. If they aren't doing their job...vote them out.
