WELLSBORO— On the heels of the Tusk concert sellouts on Oct. 6 and 7, the second concert in the Wellsboro Area Community Concert Association’s 2017-2018 season is on its way to selling out, too.

Canada's Sultans of String will perform their revved up roots and worldbeat rhythms on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Deane Center’s Coolidge Theatre at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro.

Known for performing genre-hopping original compositions and arrangements from around the world, this band will serve up a musical passport of Celtic reels, flamenco, Gypsy jazz, Arabic folk, Cuban and South Asian rhythms.

Sultans of String was formed 10 years ago by fiddle player Chris McKhool who plays Celtic, Gypsy jazz and Middle Eastern music and guitarist Kevin Laliberté, known for his flamenco style. They are the core of the band’s signature sound. With them will be Drew Birston on bass and Rosendo “Chendy” León on percussion.

Joining them on stage at Wellsboro will be master sitar player Anwar Khurshid who has created music for a number of films including the Oscar-winning "Life of Pi." Also a Canadian resident, Khurshid collaborated with McKhool, Laliberté and other musicians in the creation of Sultans of String's "Subcontinental Drift" album released in 2015.

The Billboard charting band is a SiriusXM Award winner, three-time Canadian Folk Music Award winner and nominated three times for the Juno Award, the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy.

Tickets are $20. For tickets, call 570-724-6220 or visit
