York County Man Charged With Molesting Boys At Coudersport Camp 17 Years Ago

Clyde M. Miller
A Dover Township man has been charged with molesting young boys he had recruited to race go-karts about 17 years ago, according to criminal complaints filed in the case.

Clyde M. Miller, 60, of the 5100 block of Harmony Grove Road, is accused of molesting one boy when he was 12 and the other when he was 14, in his former home in the 1700 block of Hilton Avenue in Dover Township and at a cabin in Potter County.

The accusations came to light in April when one of the alleged victims, now 28, came forward and told Northern York County Regional Police Detective Michael Hine that Miller had molested him when he was between 12 and 13.

He told the detective that Miller, once plying him with alcohol and marijuana, would get "touchy, feely" with him and would make inappropriate advances, "telling him he liked men."

He said Miller would perform sexual acts, or have him perform sexual acts. The victim tried to avoid contact with Miller while staying at his house, but sometimes, he told Hine, Miller would wake him up after he passed out from drinking and molest him, according to court documents.

A second alleged victim, now 24, was interviewed by the detective earlier this month. He told Hine he had worked with Miller at a business in New Oxford when he was about 14 or 15. Like the first boy, he drove go-karts for Miller and would stay at the older man's home during the summer.

He also told the detective that Miller provided alcohol, marijuana and pornography and would have him sleep in his bed. He told Hine that Miller "kind of eased him into it."

He reported that Miller molested him at his home and at his cabin near Coudersport in Potter County, where they would go to ride snowmobiles.

Miller was charged with multiple counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and indecent assault, in addition to a charge of aggravated indecent sexual assault.

He was arraigned on the original charges, related to the first victim, in late September and additional charges related to the second were filed on Oct. 20.

He is free on $100,000 bail. He could not be reached for comment.  Read details...
