Thank you for what you do and the service you provide. For doing a job that surely isn't easy and only a few will volunteer to do. A job you do because you find it rewarding as it gives you a great feeling of accomplishment when you save someone's life. It's because of your need to help others. You do it every hour of every day, hoping and praying that you made a difference in someone's life. Which is all that matters because it has nothing to do with money, glory, or feeling superior.
It's due to the fact that you are compassionate and feel the need to be there for others in their moments of weakness. Giving the community a bit of reassurance and hope in those moments of doubt during sickness. That extra bit of faith to fall back on when it's most needed when feeling vulnerable and afraid.

We see you every single day around the community but tend to forget to say thank you for what you do. But just remember, you are more valuable than you think even though you don't get the recognition you deserve as often as you should.

Yes, it is you who is the breath of life that makes the difference between life and death. The one's who are just as important as police and medics. As you risk your lives every day to save the lives of others. You definitely are more than just an EMT, First Responder, Firemen, or a Ambulance Driver. Truthfully you are more like a community hero that's available 24/7.

Of course among all those who volunteer there are and exceptional few who go way beyond the call of duty. Those who at the sound of the pager tone, drop everything and respond. Regardless of the hour of night or day, whether you're tired or not, and regardless if you have to get up for work in a couple of hours. You forget about yourself and concentrate only on the fact that someone needs emergency help and you may be their life saving angel.

Which at Dept. 44 in Austin, Pa. would be the following individuals, Joe Burgett, Tracy Orlowski, and Mike Tumas. Whom some how announce over the radio that they are responding before the 911 caller is finished announcing it. Then moments later are responding with lights flashing and sirens sounding to the station. All the while speaking over the radio in a calm voice in that moment of panic.
Yes, you are someone's shining ems hero at the end of every day, you shine through in someone, somewhere, bigger and brighter than ever. Who, even after you return from the call have that question of "Was there anything more I could have done?, even though you did everything possible. Because you expect the best from yourself and won't settle for anything less. So thank you for everything you do and the exceptional service you provide.

Yes, every department has a few ems personnel that stand out and are exceptional at what they do. So take the time to thank them and let them know they are greatly appreciated. I encourage you to add them and your dept. to the list.
