Eight Year Match Story

Justice and Sharon began their match when Justice was just seven years old. This November the pair is celebrating their eight-year match anniversary. They see themselves continuing to be involved with The Guidance Center’s Big Brothers Big Sisters Program until Justice ‘graduates’ at age eighteen.

While reflecting on their introductory meeting at the start of their relationship, Sharon stated, “I loved Justice as soon as I saw her, she was so tiny and so quiet”. The pair also shared a funny story about their first outing at Sharon’s home. Justice had politely stayed seated on Sharon’s couch that day. Sharon, confused about what was going on, had asked Justice why she didn’t want to play. Justice had solemnly told Sharon that her parents had said not to break anything while at Sharon’s house, so her solution for that was to stay in one spot. Nowadays, the pair regularly meet at Sharon’s house for homework help, dinner, and to watch their favorite movies. They joke that to this day, Justice has not broken anything while visiting Sharon.

Justice is now in high school. With Sharon’s and her parents’ support and encouragement, she is motivated to go on to college when she graduates. Her goal this school year is to earn honor roll grades. She has developed into a confident teenager from the shy, quiet child that entered the program.

There are thirty McKean County children who are waiting for a Big. If you would like to volunteer with The Guidance Center’s Big Brothers Big Sister’s Program, call toll free 1-877-776-1636, go to, or find us on Facebook at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson, Elk, and McKean Counties.
