DEP is full of stupid rules just to get fine money.

623, that's exactly the same point I was trying to make in a previous post, but it wasn't posted. Thanks

"DEP is full of stupid rules just to get fine money"...wow. Perhaps the gas companies could follow the law- PA STATE LAW. If a company chooses to operate in a specific industry, it is well aware of the laws involved. No one is forcing these companies to operate in the shale gas drilling industry. Many of us work in in fields with inspectors, as do I, and I know it's incumbent upon me to follow the law in my workplace. If I don't, I will have to close my doors. The shale gas industry is no different, and I would have much more respect and confidence in the industry as a whole if violations were rare instead of a daily occurrence.

The fines are obviously too lenient. Hit them HARD in the pocketbook and they'll start doing the job right.
