Speed Limit Updates for I-80 and I-99 in Region

Clearfield, PA –The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is updating information on reduced speed limits on I-80 and I-99 in the north central region. As of 1 P.M. today, the following is in effect:

Speed limits are restored on I-80 in Clearfield County and up to Exit 161/Bellefonte in Centre County.

Speed limits are restored on I-99 in Centre County.

A reduced speed limit of 45 mph remains in effect on I-80 from exit 161/Bellefonte in Centre County through Clinton County.

PennDOT urges motorists to avoid unnecessary travel but those who must drive should adjust their speeds and following distances in relation to road and weather conditions.

Although PennDOT crews have been treating roadways, the department’s primary goal is to keep roads passable, not completely free of ice and snow.

While PennDOT recommends not traveling during winter storms, motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 825 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
