John A. "Slip" Niklas

John A. "Slip" Niklas, 75, of Windy City Road, James City, PA, died late Thursday evening, January 18, 2018 in the emergency room at UPMC Kane.

Born June 3, 1943 in Kane, he was the son of Joseph K. and Clara C. Gregory Niklas.

Slip worked for the Boilermakers Union for many years. He was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church, the Loyal Order of Moose, F.O. Eagles and the VFW Post #1132, all in Kane.

Surviving are a daughter Cara Niklas of Bay City, Mich., sisters Mary Ostrander of Port Allegany, Anna Anderson and Theresa Gustafson, both of Kane; brothers Gerald Niklas and Pete Niklas, both of Kane, and Leo Niklas of James City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by sisters Dody Johnson and Dorothy Parana, and brothers Joseph in childhood, Martin Niklas and Joseph "Pill" Niklas.

Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 in the Gathering Space of St. Callistus Catholic Church, at which time a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated with Father William O'Brien, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Callistus Cemetery, Kane.

Memorial contributions may be made to a church or charity of the donor's choice.
