Judith A. Shick

Judith A. Shick, 71, of Bradford, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Bradford Manor.

She was born on October 12, 1946 in Bradford, a daughter of William E. O’Neill and the late Helen Lipps O’Neill.

She was a 1965 graduate of the Bradford Area High School and she graduated with a certificate in Business computer accounting from the Cattaraugus-Allegany Boces, Olean, NY.

On December 8, 1973 in the St. Bernard Catholic Church she married Jimmy E. Shick who preceded her in death on October 11, 1991.

She was employed by the former Corning Manufacturing, Bradford and Togi’s Restaurant as a cook for many years. She also worked for the Wal-Mart bakery as a cake decorator, a desk clerk for the DeSoto Motel and lastly she worked for the Bradford Area Historical Society.

She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, the McKean County Genealogical Society; where she was president for a few years, the McKean County Historical Society and the Bradford Landmark Society. In 1994 she published the third volume of the McKean County Cemetery Book.

In addition to her father William O’Neill of Bradford she is also survived by four children, Donald (Marilyn Sheets) Valerius of Warren, Valerie (Brian) Abers of Bradford, Jeffery Valerius of Custer City and Todd Valerius of Birdsboro; one brother, Billy (Alex) O’Neill of Bradford; two sisters, Fay (Paul) Turner of Murrell Inlet, SC and Mary (John) Pegher of Pittsburgh; one sister-in-law, Judy Jordan of Eldred; seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter on the way and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother and husband she was also preceded in death by one grandson, Zachery Valerius who passed away on June 1, 1993.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the St. Bernard Catholic Church with the Rev. Stanley Swacha as celebrant.

Private entombment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc.
