McKean County Conservation District Board Meeting

2018 Swearing InThe Board of Directors of the McKean County Conservation District met January 24, 2018. 

Prior to the meeting, Commissioner Director Cliff Lane and Public Director Steve Sherk were sworn in by Commissioner Al Pingie. The Board held elections of officers with the results being Kerry Fetter, Chairman; Steve Sherk, Vice-Chairman; Cliff Lane, Secretary-Treasurer.

Business on the January agenda included a report from the Operations committee regarding review and amendment of job descriptions, a proposal to hire a summer intern, and approval of an Associate Director policy. 

A report from the Quality Assurance Board for the Dirt, Gravel, and Low Volume Road program addressed reviewing the new 5-year draft program agreement, a new contract for Norwich Township, amending the DGLVR Statement of Policy to match the state policy regarding stream crossings. The Quality Assurance Board provides oversight for the road program and includes board members, District staff, and representatives from USDA NRCS and PA Fish and Boat Commission. A report from the Water Resources Committee was also given including the approval of an amended streambank stabilization initiative application, ranking form and delivery format.

The McKean County Conservation District is administered by a board of seven Directors including farmer members, public (non-farmer) members and one County Commissioner. Associate Directors also provide input for District programs.

The primary goal of the District is the development, improvement and conservation of the county’s soil, water and related resources as well as educating the community in various conservation and environmental practices and methods.
