Mary E. Keller, 93, of Bradford, PA

Mary E. Keller

Mary E. Keller, 93, of Bradford, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at her daughter’s home in St. Marys.

She was born on January 23, 1925 in Olean, NY, the daughter of the late James and Angeline Crowley Kayes.

She was a 1942 graduate of the Salamanca High School, Salamanca, NY and a 1945 graduate of the Buffalo State Teacher's College, Buffalo, NY.

On August 9, 1947 in the former St. Patrick’s Church, Salamanca, NY, she married George L. Keller who preceded her in death on April 19, 2007.

She was a past President of the AAUW, past President of the Delta Kappa Gamma Women's Educators, member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees; where she was very active, including organizing Florida chapters, a member of the Women's Literary Club, the St. Bernard Catholic Church, the St. Bernard Church Widow’s Club and an active bridge player. Mary and her husband George were very active in the U.S. Air Force 483rd World War II Bombardment Group. She also had a love for dogs.

She was employed by the Bradford Area School District as a teacher until her retirement in 1989. She also taught in Cuba, NY, Salamanca, NY and the former West Branch School, Bradford.

She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Keller of Washington, DC, Kurt (Marsha) Keller of Bradford and Christopher (Lisa) Keller of Thomasville, GA; two daughters, Madonna Keller of Columbus, OH and Angela (Thad) Sorg of St. Marys; four grandsons, Thomas Sorg, Ben Keller, Adam Keller and Ross Keller; three granddaughters, Liz (Zak Heintzman) Keller, Rachel (Thomas) Hepburn and Maggie Sorg and two great grandsons, Peyton and Petyr Hepburn.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:30 PM at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday at the St. Bernard Catholic Church with the Rev. Stanley Swacha as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the St. Bernard Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2394, Bradford, PA 16701, the St. Bernard School, 450 West Washington St., Bradford, PA 16701 or the Bradford Area Public Library, 67 West Washington St., Bradford, PA 16701.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc.
