Elk County Council on the Arts Announces Summer Youth Art Programming

The Elk County Council on the Arts is pleased to announce their annual summer youth programming including Visual Arts Camp, Summer Theater Camp, a trip to the Erie Art Museum, and the Anything Art Show.

Summer Theater Camp will be performing “The Music Man, Junior”, directed by Tiffany Gump. The camp will be held June 11 - 15 with a public performance held on June 15 at 7PM at the St. Marys Area High School Auditorium. Campers who will be entering grades 3rd through 12th in the fall of 2018 and are 18 years old or younger are welcome to participate. Campers 6th grade and up are encouraged, but not required, to send an audition video for larger roles.

The theme of Visual Arts Camp is Out of This World. Campers will discover new artistic concepts while making connections between the art they create and the art that is around them. Each day will be filled with a creative new project inspired by outer space that will allow the campers to explore their love for the arts. From June 18 - 22 the camp will be held at the St. Leo’s Church Social Hall in Ridgway. This camp is perfect for students entering 3rd through 9th grade, and no artistic skill is required!

A trip to the Erie Art Museum is included with Visual Arts Camp enrollment, and all school-age youth and adult parents/guardians are welcome to join us on this fun summer excursion on June 21, even if they’re not enrolled in Visual Arts Camp. We will have a guided tour around the museum and participate in fun interactive activities for kids.

Open to all artists ages 5-18, the Anything Art Show is an exhibit of young talent! Artwork can be dropped off at the ECCOTA Gallery from July 23-28. The exhibit will be on display July 30 - August 10. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded based on People's Choice votes.

ECCOTA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the cultural enrichment of the residents of Elk County by expanding the opportunity for public participation in the arts.

More information and registration forms for both camps and the Erie Art Museum trip can be obtained at ECCOTA.com, by calling 814-772-7051, or by stopping in the ECCOTA Gallery at 237 Main Street in Ridgway.
