Harold F. Jeffers

Harold F. Jeffers, 81, Garrison, MN area, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at his home.

Harold was born May 21, 1937, at Genesee, Pa., the son of Raymond and Nina (Knickerbacher) Jeffers. He grew up and attended schools in Elkland, Pa., graduating in 1954. 

US Army Veteran

He then served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1958 having spent three years in Germany. He married Gisela Zink on June 21, 1958, at Elkland, Pa., where they made their home for a time. 

They lived in Iowa, Alabama and retired to Garrison 19 years ago. He worked as a steel foundry manager for many years. He was a life member of the Garrison VFW Post. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, anything to do with the outdoors, making spaghetti dinners and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Gisela Jeffers, Aitkin; children and their spouses, Cindy and Ron Cochran, Stateroad, N.C.; Kelly and Ron Lingwall, Garrison; and Mark and Lara Jeffers, Baxter; and grandchildren, Dan, Michael, Katie, Stacy (Kyle), Nickolas, Shana (Calvin), Dakota, Makenzie and Madison; 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Kathleen Jeffers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the Garrison Community Alliance Church with the Rev. Mike Palkie officiating. A gathering time will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors will be provided by the Garrison VFW Post. Arrangements are with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
