Lane Closures Begin Next Week on I-180 in Lycoming County

Montoursville, PA – Next week, a contractor will implement lane restrictions on Interstate 180 in Lycoming County.

Beginning Wednesday, September 5, the left (passing) lanes of I-180 will be closed in both directions from the Muncy Creek bridge at Mile 14 (between Hughesville and Pennsdale) to the Carpenter’s Run bridge at Mile 16 (between Pennsdale and the Lycoming Mall Interchange).

This long-term lane closure, which will alternate between the left and right lanes during the project, will be in effect until mid-to-late October. After that, the road will be open to two lanes in each direction.

Weather permitting, there will be lane restrictions on the Route 2049 (Lycoming Mall Road) bridge from 6 AM Wednesday to noon Friday so the contractor can apply an epoxy overlay to the bridge deck.

On Friday, September 7, an epoxy overlay also will be applied on the Faxon on-ramp at the bridge over Millers Run. There will be a shoulder closure from 6 AM to 7 PM for this work.

From Saturday, September 8, to Monday, September 10, the right (driving) lane of I-180 westbound will be closed at the Loyalsock Creek bridge (Mile 22 to Mile 23) for an epoxy overlay.

This work is part of an 8.6-mile resurfacing project from Cemetery Road in Fairfield Township to the Muncy Creek bridge.

This project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2019.

Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the prime contractor on this $6 million contract.
