Otto B. “Bud” Burrous

Otto B. “Bud” Burrous, 90, of Westfield, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Wellsville Manor, Wellsville, NY. 

Born July 24, 1928 in Happy Town, PA, he was a son of the late Carl, Sr. and Edna (Zeaman) Burrous. 

US Army & Air Force Veteran
Bud was a veteran having served in the United States Army and Air Force. He was very patriotic and often participated in many of the local parades with his decorated scooter to honor his country and other veterans. 

He was also a PA Game Commissioner and was an instructor for the Hunters Safety Courses. Bud worked for and retired from the Dominion Gas Company in Sabinsville, PA and he also drove school bus for several years. 

One of Bud’s greatest joys was dirt track racing. He was the Pit Steward at Woodhull Raceway and the Circle K Raceway for many years. 

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Westfield, the Westfield Historical Society, the Wellsboro Moose and the Knoxville VFW. 

Bud is survived by three sons, Joseph (Ginger) Burrous, Tishomingo, OK, Albert James Burrous, Sabinsville and Michael Burrous, West Danby/Spencer, NY; two daughters, Erma (Gary Graham) Simmons, Wellsville, NY and Charis (Russell Reigh) Barber, Westfield; two brothers, Carl (Doris Mead) Burrous, Jr. and Harry (Patricia) Burrous, both of Westfield; three sisters, Erma Dibble, Warren, PA, Dorothy (Dale) Cleveland, Wellsboro, PA and Carole (Floyd) Simmons, Horseheads; 12 grandchildren, Brandi Lynn, Shannon, and Michael Dieter, Dustin Burrous, Heather (Justin) Arnold, JudyAnn (David) Chapman, Jessica (Alan) Hurler, Zachary, Lonnie, Jr. and Danielle Barber, Hunter and Rhett Burrous; 18 great grandchildren, Tori, Trent, Lyndsie, Alicia, Morgan, Jarah, Natalee, Brody, Kaylynn, Ella, Logan, Haylee, Reagan, Bryar, Caleb, Sereneity, Ryan, and Jayden; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Bud was predeceased by two daughters, Jeanine Dieter and Venecia Ellis; a son-in-law, Mike Dieter; three sisters, Doris Schoener, Julia Butler, and Yvonne Keeney; two grandsons, Joseph and Jonathan Barber; and a great granddaughter, Audrey Arnold. 

Friends may call at the Clymer Baptist Church in Sabinsville, PA on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00am. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00am with the Rev. Kyle Horton and Lay Minister Mike Hale co-officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Tioga County Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Westfield Historical Society. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Collins Chapel, Galeton.
