Theresa M."Betty" Brown Knapp, 94, of Roulette, PA, died Thursday (October 4, 2018) in the UPMC-Cole, Coudersport, PA.

She was born Feb 17, 1924 in Philadelphia, a daughter of Dr. James and Helen McMahon. On August 31, 1945 in Smethport, she married Norman Dale Brown who died on March 11, 2005. She later married Albert Knapp on October 15, 2005 in Port Allegany

Betty was a 1942 graduate of Port Allegany High School and attended St Margaret's Memorial Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1945.

Mrs. Knapp was a nurse employed by Port Allegany Hospital from 1948-1968 and then worked for Dr. Robert Niles from 1968 till her retirement in 1976.

She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Woman’s Club, Port Allegany Nurses Club, she was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and a volunteer for the Port Allegany Ambulance Association and the McKean Hospice Program. She was St. Gabriel’s Church RCIA facilitator for many years.

She is survived by:

Three sons, Norman (Alice) Dale Brown, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; Denis (Cheryl) Brown of Eldred, PA; Barry (Zelda) Brown of Kane, PA.

Three daughters: Darleen Abbey of Port Allegany; LuAnn (Richie) Ramer of Tallahassee, FL; Jan (Thomas) Brown Caden of Roulette, PA.

15 Grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren .

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Dale, and 3 brothers

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 2-4and 6-8 pm at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, 105 N. Main St. Port Allegany, PA, where a Christian wake service will be held Monday, October 8 at 7:45 pm in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at 11 AM in St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Campbell, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Port Allegany, PA.
