Joyce Irene Shaffer Slade, 61, Smethport, PA

“Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Aunt and Friend”

Joyce Irene Shaffer Slade, 61, passed away after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family at Cleveland Clinic on Thursday, November 8, 2018. 

She was born at Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY. Daughter to the late Kenneth Shaffer Sr. (Ardith Allen) and Doris Schwab Bhe (Norman Bhe Sr.).

Joyce spent most of her time with her husband, family and friends. She had a special love for her grandchildren and cherished every moment she spent with them. Joyce enjoyed new adventures whether it was a road trip to an unknown destination, a motorcycle ride or camping. She welcomed invitations to gatherings with friends and family and was always the light of party. When Joyce was home, she shared her space with her loving dog, Mason. 

During Joyce’s course of employment in local restaurants and delicatessens, she took pride in customer service and always greeted patrons with a smile.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Norman Bhe Jr., Wayne Bhe, Kenneth Shaffer, Jr., Diane Waldeck , Andrew Shaffer, Joseph Bhe of and Sharon Towner.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 22 years, Melvin Slade of Smethport, A son, Robert Alan (Susan) Kelly, Jr. of Smethport, PA, a step-son, Alan (Dawn) Slade of Hickory, NC, a step-son, Michael (Jennifer) Slade of Centreville, VA, and siblings, Stephen (Leatrice) Shaffer Ridgway, PA, Una (Larry) Hall of Westfield, PA, Catherine (Tom) Zombro of Myerstown, PA and Robin (Phil) Goss of Wasilla, AK also grandchildren, Derek Kelley, Mayc Kelley, Cole Kelley and Jaxon Kelley. Step-grandchildren, Robbie Slade and Jacob Stockton.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday November 11, 2018 at Frame Funeral Home, 230 Main St., Eldred, PA 16731 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Pastor Max Simms will officiate the funeral service on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Farmers Valley.
