ROADWAY REPORTED OPENED AT 9:22AM.

LINDLEY, NY - I-99 northbound lanes were closed around 5:45AM on Thursday morning, November 8, 2018, after an accident landed a tractor trailer on its side. The accident was reported on the Morgan Creek Overpass (also referred to as High Bridge at Lindley).

Lawrenceville fire crews were dispatched around 5:48AM for mutual aide in the Town of Lindley at the scene of the crash. The tractor trailer accident has closed I-99 northbound lane, as the vehicle landed on its side and blocked the lanes of travel.

Due to the blocked lanes of traffic, fire units had to use the southbound lanes to access the crash scene.

Tioga fire crews were dispatched around 5:55AM to respond to assist with setting up a detour at the I-99 and Route 49 exchange, as traffic is backed up from the crash. PennDOT also responded with a crew to assist with the traffic issue.

The truck driver was able to crawl out of his vehicle safely, however, at least 50 to 60 gallons of diesel has leaked from the vehicle. The trucker was not hauling anything at the time of the crash. An ambulance with its lights and siren on was observed leaving the crash scene.

Drivers need to slow down in northbound and southbound lanes in that area. Drivers need to also take their time through Lawrenceville as traffic is being detoured through that area.

The road was officially announced closed around 6:23AM.

Shortly after 7:00AM backlog of traffic slowly started moving along the shoulder of the northbound lane according to driver Mark Kerr. It is unknown if NY fire personnel will be using a southbound lane to help move traffic which is greatly backed up. Large wreckers were also reported on scene.

Special thanks to Mark Kerr for the on scene updates.
