Ronald E. Dean, Sr.

Ronald E. Dean, Sr., 93, of Galeton, PA, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018 at The Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. 

Born October 5, 1925, in Wayland, NY, he was a son of the late Earl F. and Margaret (Peterson) Dean. 

Mr. Dean was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy during WWII. 

On July 27, 1948, in Elkland, he married the former Audrey Osgood, who preceded him in death in 2011. 

Ron was the President and Manager of Earl F. Dean, Inc. before retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Galeton Masons, the Galeton Moose, the Galeton V.F.W., and the Coudersport Consistory. 

Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending winters in Florida, and especially loved cars. 

Surviving are a son, Ronald Dean, Jr., Galeton; a daughter, Diana M. Smith, Galeton; a daughter-in-law, Catherine Dean, Galeton; eight grandchildren, Ronald E. Dean, III, Kimberly G. Preston, Leslie (Mike) Campbell, Ashlie (Tyler) Moyer, Pamela (Dan) Romaneo, Bryan (Denise) Smith, Raymond (Michelle) Smith, and Thomas (Wendy) Smith; 15 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; a sister, Linda (Ken) Mance, Dundee, NY; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents and wife, Ron was predeceased by a son, William Dean, a daughter-in-law, Ellen Dean, a sister, Evangeline “Billie” Sykora, his step mother, Beulah Dean, and a step brother, Raymond Ebersold.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church in Galeton. The Rev. Tom Shatto will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by the Potter County Honor Guard. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Goodyear Fire Company or to the Gale Hose Ambulance Association. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Collins Chapel, Galeton.
