Ptlm Yoder was able to locate a stolen vehicle from the City of Bradford on Maple St. ( Roulette Twp ). He secured the vehicle and the suspect ( 12 yo ) who drove it to the Maple St address - a relative, from Bradford.

Ptlm Yoder turned over the vehicle to the owner and the child to his mother and will file charges in Potter County juvenile court, as well as Bradford City Police will be handling charges from within their City.

Regina Kuntz Smith, age 93, of East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA, died Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium.

Born May 13, 1924 in St. Marys, she was the daughter of John and Marie Simones Kuntz. On June 21, 1947 in St. Marys, she married Mark J. Smith who died March 3, 1984.

A longtime resident of Emporium she had previously lived in Wilson, NY.

Mrs. Smith, “Jean”, was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Emporium, served on the Emporium Borough Shade Tree Committee for 30 years, and was a former member of the Emporium Garden Club, the Emporium Country Club, and the Cameron County Antique Seekers. Jean loved nature, was an artist, florist and gardener and also enjoyed traveling, sometimes to exotic locations.

Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara Smith of Emporium, and Mary Smith (Stephen Morse) of Virginia; six sons, Stephen Smith of Oregon, George (Seine) Smith of Louisiana, Michael (Bonita) Smith of Emporium; Richard (Wendy) Smith of York, David (Tracy) Smith of Maryland, and James (Elba) Smith of Connecticut; fourteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Edward Kuntz of St. Marys; one sister, Ann Margaret Keller of New York; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by: six brothers, Henry, Jerard, Frank, Joseph, John and James Kuntz; and one sister, Mary Kuntz Minns.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 10 from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in St. Mark Church with Fr. Paul Siebert, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Mark Cemetery, Emporium.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Special Olympics PA, 2610 Clyde Ave., Ste B, State College, PA 16801 or the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library, 27 W Fourth Street, Emporium PA 15834.

G2 is proud to announce that twenty-two members have qualified to the Pennsylvania USA Gymnastics State Championships. Beginning at Level 3, gymnasts must receive a specific All-Around score defined by the state. Gymnasts will be traveling to their respective State level competitions throughout the month of April and finishing the first weekend of May. Our first group traveling will be our Level 6 team as they head to Pottstown this weekend.

Millerton & Big Elm Fire Companies Assist Wenns Mills at Morning House Fire

2018-013: Shortly after 0900 hours this morning, the Webbs Mills VFD along with automatic mutual aid from Millerton, Big Elm and Pine City fire departments, responded to a single family residence on Bird Creek in the first due for a reported structure fire. 

Assistant Chief 1802 was first to mark on scene and found heavy fire conditions consuming the structure. Old style construction and windy conditions proved to be a challenge to responders. Additional manpower was requested bringing an engine crew from Southport VFD. Water supply operations were conducted from the dry Hydrant on Smith Road just south of the fire. 

Approximately thirty firefighters responded, including Engine 1821, Tanker 1862, Tanker 1861 and Rescue 1881 from Webbs Mills; Tanker 1262 and Engine 1235 from Pine City, Engine 1433 from Southport; Engine, Tanker and Aerial from Millerton and an Engine and Tanker from Big Elm. Elmira Heights and Wellsburg provided cover up. 

Thanks to all that assisted today, including the Chemung County Deputy Coordinators and Fire Investigation Team. Our thoughts and prayers go to those affected by today's fire. Chief 1801 assumed command of today's call.

Additional defendants named in Emporium drug case


EMPORIUM — Two additional defendants have been charged in connection with an ongoing drug investigation in the Borough of Emporium.

Over the weekend, charges were filed against Kurt Wallin, 50, of Emporium, following information received by members of the Emporium Borough Police Department while conducting a traffic stop on unknown individuals.

On Wednesday, Police Chief Dave Merritt filed charges against Nickolas Ryan Walentukonis, 39, of Austin, and Kortney Leigh Bundy, 28, of Austin. Their vehicle was stopped for suspicion of driving without a license and drug activity on March 29 in connection with the Wallin case. Read more....

At 1:50 PM on Saturday, Police and Bradford Ambulance have been called to Chamberlain Avenue for a 37 year old male victim of a single gunshot wound.
Police report a female is in custody.

Bradford County Commissioner Running For Congress In New 12th District that Includes Potter & Tioga County

Recently, Bradford County Commissioner Doug McLinko was in Potter County attending meetings and visiting with voters.

Doug is a Republican candidate for Congress in the new 12th Congressional District. He is challenging Tom Marino in the Primary on Tuesday, May 15th.

During his visit, Doug attended the Coudersport Rotary meeting.

Drilling company ends involvement with Potter County water treatment plant

JKLM Energy LLC, the main customer and financial backer of a controversial facility that would treat shale gas drilling wastewater near the headwaters of the Allegheny River, says it is abandoning the project.

The decision to end its involvement in what had been described as an “experimental” treatment plant by Lawrenceville-based Epiphany Water Solutions at Coudersport, Potter County, was announced by JKLM Friday afternoon.

“JKLM will no longer pursue water treatment at the proposed facility,” the shale gas drilling and fracking company said in a brief post. “A number of factors impacted this decision.”

Wanda Y. Himes, 76, of 318 Campbelltown Road, Kane, PA  near Mt. Jewett, died Thursday afternoon, April 5, 2018 at UPMC Kane.

Born April 16, 1941 in Redclyffe, Forest County, she was the daughter of George J. and Gladys E. Cook Nicklas. She was married to Ray Himes until his death in 2000.

A homemaker, Wanda worked for the Mt. Jewett Ambulance for thirty-three years. She was a member of the Mt. Jewett American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Sportsman’s Club and American Legion in Wilcox, and greatly enjoyed fishing and camping.

Surviving are a daughter Lori Baker of Mt. Jewett; a son Ray (Bobby Jo) Himes, Jr. in North Carolina; brothers Joe Nicklas of Sackett and and Terry Nicklas of Kane; sisters Sandra Shugars of Penfield and Debbie Compton of Kane; grandchildren Dustin Himes, Cecil Miller, Jr., Kristin Miller and Samantha Young. Eight great grandchildren also survive, in addition to her companion and fiance Tom Beglin, with whom she lived, and his children Rob Beglin, Ryanne Beglin and Terra Beglin.

A celebration of her life will be at 2:00 on Monday at the Mt. Jewett American Legion, with dinner to follow.

Phyllis A. DeVore, 87, of Warren, PA., died peacefully, Thursday afternoon, April 5, 2018. 

She was born February 12, 1931 in Prospect, Butler Co., PA., to the late Ralph Vincent and Mary Annalean Albert Davis. 

Phyllis was a Warren area resident most of her life. She was a 1948 graduate of Butler High School and a 1951 graduate of Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing, as a registered nurse. She earned her surgical nursing education from Cooks County Hospital in Chicago, IL. Phyllis was a member of the Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing Alumni. 

She was employed with the Warren General Hospital, Warren State Hospital, Warren Dental Arts and Visiting Nursing of Warren and Meadville, PA. She enjoyed crafting, and numerous card clubs. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lyle E. DeVore, Sr. whom she married at 1st English Church, Butler, PA., on August 21, 1952, 4 Sons – Lyle E. DeVore, Jr. and wife, Mary Ann of Midlothian, TX., Chuck D. DeVore and wife, Donna Marie of Gilbertsville, PA., Scott D. DeVore and wife, Raisa of Orlando, FL., Brad P. DeVore and wife, Katie of Jamestown, N.Y., 2 Sisters – Alice Arnetta Saul of Butler, PA., Glenna Ruth Zaborny and husband, Joe of Coral Springs, FL., 14 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. followed by a memorial service at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. J. Maier, Pastor, officiating. Those wishing to place memorials may do so through the Community Foundation of Warren County, 310 Liberty Avenue, Warren, PA. 16365, earmarked for Phyllis A. DeVore Nursing Scholarship.
