Lester J. "Junior" Rutz, Jr.

Lester J. "Junior" Rutz, Jr., 80, of West Sixth St., Emporium, PA died at UPMC Cole, Coudersport, PA on Monday afternoon (June 10, 2019). 

He was born April 20, 1939 in Ridgway, PA a son of the late Lester and Louise A. Gibbs Rutz, Sr.. He married Shirley E. Lushbaugh, who survives.

Mr. Rutz was a member of the May Hollow and Bucktail Rod and Gun Clubs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Many children in the community benefited from his woodworking hobby. He would occasionally donate a project to kids to raffle for fundraising. He could be seen throughout Emporium riding his electric scooter with his dog.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four daughters, Loretta J. Rutz Montgomery, Emporium; Diane C. (William) Hostetler, Emporium; Dorothy Ann (Stanley, Jr.) Hastings, Emporium; Sheryl (Rock) Pifer, St. Marys; two sons, William C. Rutz, Westport, NY; Leslie "John" (Angela D. Catalano) Rutz, Emporium; granddaughter whom he helped raise, Alicia M. Berry, Emporium; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; two sisters, Bessie Roberts, Florida; and his twin sister, Loretta J. Farren, Emporium. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen in infancy and Deloris Blauvelt and Virginia Schwab; one grandson and one great granddaughter.

There will be No Visitation. Memorial Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Saturday (June 15, 2019) at 1:00 PM with Rev. Joseph Short, officiating.
