PITT-BRADFORD, JCC ADD THREE NEW PROGRAMS TO TRANSFER AGREEMENT

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Jamestown Community College have added three new programs to a transfer agreement between the two schools, which will enable JCC students to seamlessly complete their bachelor’s degree at Pitt-Bradford in one of more than 30 programs.

The new programs – communications, forensic science and international affairs -- were added as part of a thorough review of the classes offered by JCC, which offers two-year associate degrees.

The agreements allow students and counselors to plan what courses JCC students should take to efficiently transfer to Pitt-Bradford to complete a four-year bachelor’s degree in one of 33 programs, including business management, biology and nursing.

“Each of us recognizes the importance of developing accessible pathways to help our students achieve at their highest level,” said Dr. Catherine Koverola, president of Pitt-Bradford.

“These articulation agreements are part of a long and successful collaboration between our two institutions that have enabled student who have earned an associate degree from Jamestown Community College to seamlessly pursue a bachelor’s degree at Pitt-Bradford.”

JCC President Daniel T. DeMarte said, “The new and updated transfer agreements between Jamestown Community College and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford are the most recent example of JCC fulfilling its mission to offer current, quality programs that transfer seamlessly into baccalaureate programs at the preferred destinations of our graduates.

“Since 2013, more than 40 JCC graduates have transferred into nine different degree programs at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. We will continue to strengthen partnerships for the benefit of our students and the Southern Tier region.”

On Wednesday, Koverola and DeMarte signed the new agreement along with Dr. Marilyn Zagora, JCC’s vice president of academic affairs, and Dr. Steve Hardin, vice president of academic affairs, and Dr. James Baldwin, vice president of enrollment management, both of Pitt-Bradford.

Pitt-Bradford and JCC first established transfer agreements in 2001 for six programs.

Pitt-Bradford is a four-year, baccalaureate degree-granting regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh.

JCC has campuses in Jamestown, N.Y., and Olean, N.Y.
