Six area graduates receive Daniel McCarthy Scholarship

Six area graduates recently received the Daniel McCarthy Scholarship, managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, to support their goals of pursuing careers in business.

John Dwaileebe, Jarrett Prizel, Brian Ramarge and Reagan Stitt, all from Olean High School, as well as Samuel Flanders and Gabriella Sanzo from Allegany-Limestone, each received the Daniel McCarthy Scholarship in the amount of $600 this year.

The scholarship, given through the generosity of the Catherine M. Cridler Trust, honors Mr. McCarthy, one of Olean Business Institute’s founders. The scholarship is available to graduating students pursuing a business degree.

Dwaileebe plans to attend St. Bonaventure University to study accounting and finance. Prizel will attend Bowling Green State University to study supply chain management and business analytics. Ramarge will study business administration at Gannon University. Stitt will study marketing and entrepreneurship at the University of Dayton.

Flanders plans to attend Bowling Green State University to study finance. Sanzo will attend the University of Utah to study business administration.

Donations can be made to the Daniel McCarthy Scholarship fund at the CRCF, 301 North Union Street, Suite 203, or online at cattfoundation.org.

Established in 1994, the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation is growing good by connecting donors to the causes they care about most in the region. Grants from the foundation support many areas, including education, scholarships, health care, the arts, community development, human service, and youth development.
