Last night at 1823hrs Derrick City VFD was dispatched to the area of Babcock Rd for a search detail of a missing elderly male that walked away from his residence. Family reported last seeing the male around 1730 hrs.

After receiving a briefing from FTPD, personnel assembled from both stations and responded to the scene, Chief 11 (Kelley) established Command, with Chief 1120 (Scrivo) and Captain 1130 (Yohe) as Staging & Accountability Officers.

A perimeter search of the area was performed by DCVFD personnel on foot as well as with UTV’s checking neighboring houses and yards, garages, sheds, and nearby wooded areas and streams.

With darkness arriving as well as the temperature dropping into the 40’s, mutual aid was requested for Knapp Creek and Limestone VFD for additional manpower and UTVs to widen the search. Two search dogs from the District Attorney’s Office K9 Unit were also called to aid in the search.

At approx. 2000hrs a tip was provided to FTPD that matched the description of the missing male. Around 2030 hrs the K9’s located the lost male in a field just off a wooded area approx. 50 yds. behind a residence on Derrick Road.

The male was assessed by First Responders and transported to BRMC by the City of Bradford Ambulance.
