Mary Jean Stauffer

Mary Jean Stauffer, 94, of Silver Creek Terrace, and formerly of Evers Avenue, St. Marys, PA, passed away at Penn Highlands Elk on Friday, November 15, 2019, after a brief illness.

She was born April 2, 1925, in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late John C. and Kathryn (Glennon) Deter. Mary Jean was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1942, and was a retired employee of Stackpole Carbon Company.

On January 11, 1947, in the Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, Mary Jean married Philip E. Stauffer, who preceded her in death on October 13, 1989.

She is survived by a son, Dennis Stauffer and his wife Patty of St. Marys; five grandchildren, Rob Boland (Kelleigh), Dan Boland (Kyrie), Mike Boland, Jackie Brem (Jeremy), and Devin Stauffer (Tricia); and by 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Jean was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Kaye Boland; and by two sisters, Geraldine Nordin and Margaret Louise Corraine.

Mary Jean was a member of the St. Mary’s Church, as well as the Rosary Altar Society, St. Anne’s Society, and the Catholic Daughters of America.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Monday, November 18, 2019, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday morning, from 9:30 until 10:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Silver Creek Terrace Activity Fund, 791 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, PA 15857.
