Wouldn’t It Be Nice
Pastor B.J. Knefley

Wouldn’t it be nice if every person you ever met was kind? That people still opened doors for others; courtesy was shown in parking lots and checkout lines. Wouldn’t it be nice if only the bad people died early and suffered terrible things and the good people lived on and received great rewards? Could you imagine a world like that? It would be nice, but it doesn’t happen.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could eat anything you wanted and never gain an ounce? Or travel to anywhere in the world and find peace? Wouldn’t it be nice if neighbors didn’t fight with neighbors and everyone got along? That there would be no more wars, poverty, tsunami’s, hardships of any kind, jobs and prosperity for all, and peace on earth. Wouldn’t it be nice to live in a place like that? It would be nice, but it doesn’t exist.

Wouldn’t it be nice if people admitted when they were wrong, and that they didn’t blame others for the problems they experienced? And life wasn’t about “self” but was about the other person and that we thought about others before ourselves. It would be nice, but more often the opposite is true.

Wouldn’t it be nice if our money lasted forever, that the gas prices were back to what they were in the 60’s, that we all grew old with grace and health, and that death was peaceful and painless? And wouldn’t it be nice if we kept our hair, all of our teeth and our bodies kept their youthful abilities. It would be nice, but it’s not going to happen.

In case you haven’t noticed, life isn’t getting better or easier. Inflation does exist, pain is real, and we all die. From the moment of our birth we are moving towards our death, for it comes to everyone and it’s a reality. Is there hope? Yes! But it’s not in things, it’s in a person. You see hope does have a name and so does life and peace. It’s simply Jesus. Think about it.

Amen Bernie, All we need is Jesus. He is our hope. He is our strength. He is our peace. He is our refuge. He is our fortress. He is our everything.
