Cable Median Barrier Work Slated on I-99, Route 322 Next Week
State College, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today issued an update on its cable median barrier installation project along more than 13 miles of roadway in Centre, Clinton, Mifflin, and Juniata counties. The project will enhance safety for motorists and reduce the potential for head-on collisions on high-volume traffic routes.
During the week of September 2, crews will continue excavation of the median, installation of reinforcement bars, pouring concrete for the median barriers, constructing sockets for the line posts and placing other hardware for the cable barrier system on Interstate 99 in Centre County.
There is no work scheduled today, August 31, or Monday, September 2, in observation of the Labor Day holiday. Beginning Tuesday, September 3, motorists will encounter short-term closures of the left (passing) lane on I-99 northbound between the Waddle/Grays Woods and Atherton Street interchanges. They will be implemented at 9:00 AM and removed by 7:00 PM daily.
If work progress allows, the contractor may implement short-term closures of the left (passing) lane on Route 322 westbound between Boalsburg and State College beginning Thursday, September 5. All lane closures will be lifted by 6:00 AM Friday, September 6. No work is scheduled on either route that day due to a PSU home football game on Saturday, September 7.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc. is the contractor for the $3.3 million median barrier project, which is expected to finish by mid-December. All work is weather and schedule dependent.

Galeton August Weather Report
Galeton enjoyed a very nice August. The month started out warm and nice. We had many sunny summer like days with cool nights and mornings and warm afternoons with generally low humidity. Several mornings we had readings in the mid 40's. We had 21 foggy mornings, five thunderstorms and two brief damaging wind events with some trees blown down in town.We had a month of low rainfall until the 28th. Pine Creek is lower now than it has been this summer but, of course Pine Creek is nice as always.
Normal rainfall for August is 4.15" This year we received 3.09" and last year 3.74". The average high temperature for August is 79 degrees and the average low is 57 degrees.
This is Labor Day weekend and it could be rainy with thunderstorms. Hopefully you will get out and enjoy a picnic.
