Sinnemahone Trail Run Participants Ready to Hit the Trail

Participants in the Sinnemahone Trail Run have three options, tackle the 12K which includes a pipeline climb, a 25k climbing the Wylie Trail or the challenging 50k which includes the single track Rock Run trail. The yearly event is the final leg of the Sinnemahone Triple Crown. Cameron County Chamber of Commerce director, Tina Solak says 12 individuals are eligible to take home the first ever award. Three of them are from the same family. Saul Solveson, his wife Cristy and son Eastyn began in April with the Sinnemahone Paddle, biked in the Sinnemahone Gravel last month and are registered to run Saturday October 19. The triple crown is not the only item added this year. Solak says chip timing will be utilized.

Those tackling the race will have aid stations, where food, and water will be available. There are seven stations throughout the DCNR Elk State Forest manned by volunteers from ABATE, Mountaineer Search and Rescue, Cameron County Outdoor Youth Activities, Emporium Volunteer Fire Department and others not affiliated with an organization. “More than 30 volunteers will be giving up their Saturday for the event plus the dozen or more who mark the trails,” says Solak emphasizing the event cannot be held without volunteers.

Each participant who pre-registered will receive a t-shirt and a drawstring goodie bag with other items donated by businesses and organizations. Participants and volunteers will have the opportunity to meet each other Friday night prior to the race during packet pickup at the chamber office. The public is welcome to attend.

The public is invited to spend time at the start finish line. Sherm Bloom will perform 11am-2pm. The award ceremony for top finishers will be held in the parking lot of B&R Tool & Die adjacent to the finish line on South Broad Street. The awards for 12K set for 11am, 25k at noon and 50k at 2pm.
