Borough of Coudersport Preparedness for the 2019 Novel Corona virus

The Federal and State governments are responding with abundance of caution to the threat of the 2019 Novel Corona virus causing a COVID-19 epidemic. Coudersport Borough will comply with Federal and State directives as they come. Coudersport Borough is exercising preparedness and caution in the following ways.

The primary responsibilities of the Borough are to provide essential services and public safety.

Staffing will continue to provide essential services is assured and essential services can continue to be provided.

A sick leave benefit removes the need for employees to come to work sick putting other employees at risk of getting sick.

The health insurance benefit provides for treatment to minimize the duration of illness and hasten the return to work.

The doors to the Borough office are locked for the safety of our office staff but the office is occupied to serve the needs of their residents and can be called at 274-9776 or emailed at

Coudersport Borough, Coudersport Borough Authority and Coudersport Area Municipal Authority will continue to provide safe drinking water, collect and treat wastewater and keep the roads passable.

For water and wastewater, the treatment technologies employed are effective in killing corona viruses. This assures the COVID-19 will not spread through Coudersport as water borne disease. Drinking Borough water or the discharge of treated Coudersport wastewater does not spread disease. Sufficient inventory of treatment chemicals are maintained to endure delays in deliveries.

Removal of refuse assures that there will not be an increase of a health risk. Coudersport Borough residents have five (5) permitted refuse haulers to choose from. They are: B & S Disposal – 814-274-7028, S.B. Disposal – 570-295-2978, Casella Waste – 1-800-292-0297, Foils Disposal - 814-435-6646 and LaForge Disposal - 585-593-7122.

The streets will remain open and passable to assure the free flow of traffic.

Should the threat of the spread of COVID-19 continue decisions will have to be made relative to other services including the parks and swimming pool.

The Coudersport Borough Police Department, Coudersport Volunteer Fire Department and the Coudersport Area Volunteer Ambulance association continue to serve the community around the clock every day of the year. They are currently adequately supplied and staffed to respond as needed. In the event that demands exceed supply, mutual aid agreements are in place.
