BRADFORD, Pa. – The tennis courts at the Kessel Athletic Complex at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford are now open, but players will need to comply with all of the safety guidelines that will be posted at the facility.

“We want people to get outside and use our beautiful facility,” said Bret Butler, Pitt-Bradford’s athletic director, “but we want them to do it safely and in a controlled manner that is consistent with public health guidelines.”

Those guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Tennis Association include playing singles matches, using separate sets of tennis balls for each player, leaving the courts following play and maintaining social distancing.

The guidelines are posted at the facility.

The courts will be open from dawn to dusk, and the door entrances on the community side will be open.

Now that Pennsylvania has been moved from the red to the yellow phase, some public restrictions are being lifted, which enables tennis to be one of the first sports to return. At this time, this is the only athletic facility on campus that is open.
