Herm Suplizio Sets The Record Straight on Photo With Former Governor Ed Rendell

There’s a lot of attention being paid to a photograph of former Gov. Ed Rendell and me in 2006.

It’s time to separate truth from fiction.

When that photo was taken, I was mayor of DuBois. Gov. Rendell came to town for our annual Community Days celebration.

Any mayor is obligated to be hospitable to a visiting dignitary, regardless of political views.

During that visit, the governor announced state funding for DuBois that included $550,000 for a new fire truck for Friendship Hose Co. No.2, $300,000 for air packs for the entire fire department, $1.8 million to help with sewer line reconstruction throughout the city, more than $1 million in parks and recreation funding and $100,000 for the Edward V. Cherry Amphitheater in City Park.

Now for the wild fiction contained in mail pieces being distributed and
paid for by dark money from Philadelphia millionaires.

Frankly, I’m increasingly offended at the politics of personal destruction
and innuendo that Dush & Co. are engaged in.

So, to set the record straight, again …

* I did not and still do not support Ed Rendell’s political views.
* I was not and am not a socialist and I do not support socialist policies.
* My campaign is not bankrolled by Harrisburg politicians. In fact, I have received contributions from hundreds of individuals in the district totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.
* Joe Scarnati is supporting me.
* I’m 100 percent behind President Trump’s re-election. (Cris Dush gave our president a C+).
* I did not support either a personal income tax increase or out-of-control state spending.
* I have not supported, nor do I or will I ever support any limitations on our God-given rights to own and carry firearms.
* I have not supported, nor do I or will I ever support taxpayer-funded abortions.

I cannot be any clearer than that. Any suggestion to the contrary is a lie. Despite our differences, I worked with Gov. Rendell to get something done for DuBois.

That’s called integrity. I didn’t apologize for it then and I’m not about to apologize for it now.

My top priority as your Senator will be to work to get things done for the residents of the 25th District. To do so, I may have to work with people I don’t agree with. But if that’s what it takes, that’s what I’ll do.

That’s called leadership. I won’t apologize for it, either.

Separate truth from fiction one more time: Donald Trump was also a Democrat just like Ed Rendell back in 2006. Pro Choice and all.
