PennDOT Elk/McKean County Maintenance work schedule for the week of June 29, – July 3, 2020

Ridgway/Cyclone, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Elk/McKean County Maintenance announces the following work schedule for the week of June 29 – July 3, weather permitting. Motorists should travel with extra caution in these and all work areas. Motorists should be aware that due to the nature of highway maintenance and emergency work, crews could be working on any highway at any time of the day or night.

This work will be done in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well COVID-19 safety guidance, including protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols.

Elk County 0280
Turf Cutting:
● State Route: 219/948 Wilcox to county line, SR219 to SR255 through Kersey

Ditching Cleaning:
● State Route: 948 Shelvey Summit Rd., Kersey
● State Route: 2007 Irishtown Road, Kersey

Bridge Deck Repair:
● State Route: 948 West Main St., Ridgway

Pipe Replacement:
● State Route: 1006 Wilcox (Expect Delays)

The following work is scheduled to be completed by contractor, weather permitting:

Kinzua Creek Bridge/SR-3006-A01/McKean County: Clearwater Construction Co.:

Overall Project Description:
ECMS 4460 - On State Route 3006 (Westline Road) from Segment 0010/Offset 0189 to Segment 0010/Offset 1314. For the removal of the existing Two-Span Steel I-Beam bridge and construction of its replacement Two-Span Composite P/S Bulb-Tee Beam Bridge, a temporary roadway including temporary bridge are to be used for traffic control. Approach work consisting of super pave asphalt mixture designs for the base, binder, and wearing course, guide rail, pavement markings, management and disposal of potential hazardous materials, and miscellaneous construction for a construction length of approximately 735 feet (0.139 miles) as indicated on the approved drawings.
Next Week:
Contractor is scheduled to begin placement of 16” diameter steel pipe piles at abutment #2. Contractor will cut-off pipe piles at Abutment #1 and Pier to proper elevation and fill with concrete Excavation, formwork and epoxy rebar placement for Pier.
Traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic signals until completion of the new structure this fall.
Drivers are reminded to watch for stopped vehicles and to obey the posted speed limits and construction signing.
Work to be performed Monday through Friday during daylight hours, weather permitting.

SR-219/539 Elk Co. Line to Halsey Resurfacing/Jones Township in Elk County and Hamlin & Sergeant Township in McKean County: IA Construction Corp.

Overall Project Description:

The work to be performed will include resurfacing, restoration and rehabilitation of roadway using Superpave Asphalt Mixture Designs for the base, binder and wearing courses, installation drainage and guide rail upgrades, repairs to concrete arch structures at Segment 0030/Offset 0000 and Segment 0040/Offset 1090, pavement markings and miscellaneous construction. The expected completion date of the project is 9/03/2020. The Project is for upgrading the existing pavement structure and guide rail, as well as repair work to drainage structures including rehabilitation work on two concrete arch culverts along the 5.6 Mile Section of Roadway.
Next Week:

Work will begin Monday at 7:00 AM and will continue through Thursday. All work will be done during the daylight hours. No work will be performed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of Independence Day Holiday.
The work zone is located near the Elk/McKean county line north towards Lantz Corners and will feature an alternating pattern controlled by flaggers.
The contractor will continue drainage work and installing new inlets in the area and along the roadway.
The Contractor will begin to mill the roadway in preparation of performing slope corrections.
All work is weather and schedule dependent. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving and stopped vehicles when approaching the work zone.
Motorists are advised to be cautious when approaching the work zone and should obey the posted speed limit.
