First Baptist Church of Emporium to close the church to in-person worship

First Baptist Church of Emporium

After much prayer and deliberation, the Board of Deacons and Pastor Jim have come to the decision to close the church to in-person worship beginning this Sunday, November 29.

This was not an easy decision to make, but due to the increasing numbers of Covid, we feel that this is in the best interest of all of our congregation.

We will continue to have services live on Facebook.

This is a good decision, other churches take note.

Why not leave up to the congregation on what they may want to do? No just keep shutting down churches instead ask the congregation if they don’t feel safe don’t go that’s how I look at it. If they can go do shopping and go to all these big centers then they should feel OK to go to church with people they know

If the leaders of the church choose to stop services, that is great. Its their decision. But if they are ordered, forced, threatened by the "government" then that is wrong. Freedom of religion and separation of church and state are worth dying for.

Have any of you seen a covid patient at the end of life when a family member needs to make the decision whether or not to unplug the ventilator ?

Jesus said to love our neighbors and that means protecting our neighbors. Jesus also told us to take care of the most vulnerable among us. Thank you for those churches making the tough decisions. We trust that the Holy Spirit can move among us even virtually.
