FRIDAY P.M. Update: Potter County Has 146 ‘Active’ Cases

Potter County Today
December 18th, 2020

Although there were seven new COVID-19 coronavirus cases confirmed in Potter County between Thursday and Friday, the number of active cases has declined to 146, according to the Pa. Dept. of Health.

DOH said “active” means that the positive test was confirmed over the past 14 days and the victim is considered contagious.

Breakdown of active cases is as follows: Coudersport area, 56; Ulysses area, 20; Austin area, 15; Galeton area, 12; Harrison Valley/Mills area, 12; Roulette area, 11; Shinglehouse area, 9; Genesee area, 8; Hector Township, 2; Cross Fork area, 1.

Also between Thursday and Friday, state health departments reported 20 more cases in Tioga County; 50 cases in McKean; one more case in Cameron; 10 more cases in Clinton; 84 new cases and seven more fatalities in Lycoming; 71 more cases and another death in Cattaraugus County, N.Y.; and 22 more cases in Allegany County, N.Y.

Entering Friday, overall case counts since the virus was detected stood as follows: Potter, 468 cases, 10 deaths; Tioga, 1,691 cases, 41 deaths; McKean, 1,237 cases, 11 deaths; Cattaraugus, 1,976 cases, 30 deaths; Allegany County, N.Y., 1,517 cases, 65 deaths; Clinton, 1,457 cases, 17 deaths; Elk, 1,021 cases, 13 deaths; Cameron, 105 cases, 2 deaths; and Lycoming, 4,524 cases, 88 deaths. Statewide, there have been 538,655 cases, an increase of 9,520 between Thursday and Friday, with 13,6-8 deaths. The latter figure grew by 216 over the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Potter County Commissioners have joined with several agencies in organizing free drive-through COVID-19 coronavirus tests at the Coudersport Area High School back parking lot for five days, Dec. 27 to Dec. 31. Up to 450 tests will be administered per day for anyone age 3 or older. Additional details will be announced.

Three testing sites for the COVID-19 coronavirus remain available in Coudersport. In addition to the testing site at UPMC Cole for physician-referred patients, tests are also being administered at Buchanan Brothers Pharmacy (visit the website here or call 1-800-635-8611 to complete an eligibility assessment) and Rite Aid Pharmacy (visit the website here or call 814-274-0439).

A Pa. Dept. of Health (DOH) report shows that UPMC Cole in Coudersport is currently treating eight victims of the COVID-19 coronavirus, with one in the intensive care unit. Entering Friday, all four of the hospital’s ventilators were available.

A recent U.S. Centers for Disease Control model has found that the actual number of COVID-19 infections in the U.S. could be about eight times as much as the total reported cases. Details can be found here.

Resist the urge to try to discredit the seriousness of the virus, you’re not doing anyone any good. Just let them post the information and resist the urge to let everyone know how much smarter you are than the experts...it doesn’t help. Just get on with your day.

Typical liberal response ! 2:48

Amen 2:48 PM, you have to go on with your life & not let these stats worry you, the virus is real. We just have to follow our own instincts. We wear the mask, wash out hands, stay 6-10 ft away from others. If you worry that much it’ll drive you crazy !! We’re elderly so we just stay home👍

Just because the active case count has gone down a little is no reason to celebrate. It confirms almost 150 verified COVID contagious people and the CDC estimates there are about 7 undiagnosed cases for each positive test. I am not too comforted by about 1,000 COVID contagious people in Potter County and about 400 in Coudersport alone. Are you?

3:20, Liberal response?? How about just a human response? This is not political. Someone on a different thread mentioned about people posting their conspiracy theories to make light of the virus, without considering the growing number of people on here who have actually lost family to it, and it just made me think about it. They weren’t as nice about it, as I’m trying to be, but the point was to be considerate of those people who have lost their family. You have no reason to post arguments about the existence of the virus, because it doesn’t serve any purpose, and it’s just disrespectful to the people who have no option but to suffer. That’s what I meant about just reading the info, believe it or don’t...but don’t post nonsense that’s just going to be hurtful to people. There’s nothing “liberal” about being considerate of people...I hope not, anyway.

What a waste of money! The pandemic is nearing an end and now you decide to spend money on testing. How stupid!

The wheat is all cut down, it's gone much faster than even we expected it to.
'They are gone, the field is ours, cry out the tares,' as they laugh.
But then, they hear a distant trumpet... they cannot run, they cannot leave the field.
No, there is no escape, they are bound, and will face God's wrath. As it is written, so shall it be done.

Ya, the liberals were real considerate of others when they were rioting, looting businesses, burning private property, killing and on and on. Yep, real considerate of them..... a holes

Pandemic nearing an end? WTH?! You obviously don’t work in healthcare and aren’t watching people suffer! We that work in healthcare bite our tongues so much and deal with the uneducated comments from people way more than anyone realizes! I can’t stand watching people suffer, wearing masks all day every day, being tested on a routine basis, just to have the uneducated political public run their mouths! You insult us healthcare workers with every step and think it is ok. But yet turn for prayers and funding when someone you know is sick! Get over yourselves, wear a damn mask, and shut your mouths!!!

Wow, this place is just pitiful, sad and angry. If you’re actually going to argue to justify being intentionally inconsiderate to other people, I guess there’s not much more to say. I’m not political at all. I don’t even know who all these “liberals” that you are so afraid of are. I was just trying to be considerate of our neighbors who have lost their family to this virus. I’m not sure how the equates to rioting and looting, and whatever else you have your knickers in a bunch about. It just doesn’t make sense to me to intentionally hurt your neighbors and then justify it by saying something about rioting that you saw on TV. That’s just sad.

6:21:00 PM Nearing an end ? Are you serious ? New strains of this virus are on the way so don`t get your hopes up.

6:56,I don't believe that I rioted or burnt property or looted any business or killed anyone. I do know that I donated to many humanitarian organizations, am concerned for equal justice for all, support the right to vote for all citizens, and believe in the constitution and all the amendments including the 1st and 2nd. I am not a communist or a marxist. I believe in the republic and democracy. I believe in the separation of church and state and that people have the right to be who they are as long as that does not harm anyone else. I believe that it is my responsibility to care for those where I can and to try and respect those that may be different. How about you? What do you believe?

This doesn't fit the left wing narrative very well. It shouldn't have been posted. Maybe wait until there's another spike in cases around Potter County, then start talking about it again.

These drug overdose deaths are in direct response to this virus epidemic this is an increase, why are their deaths of no importance? Why, because they dont affect you. You are all about the fear instilled by this sars-covid 2 virus Petty little people who cannot look beyond the virus and see the other effects this virus and lockdowns have had on people.

Interesting. Poster at 6:21 predicts that the "pandemic is nearing an end". Cool. Could you now please predict the winning combination of numbers for the next mega millions jackpot? If so, I'd love for you to share them here along with your other pearls of wisdom and insight.

Medical and pharma industry making TRILLIONS on this fraud. There is a profit incentive to label normal deaths as COVID. In reality it only is dangerous to those with a compromised immune system. But tyrants could not resist using all of this to control the American people and justify those mail in ballots. PA alone committed massive fraud and worse compliments of governor Wolf.Yeah lets stick COVID patients in with the most vulnerable to bump up the death rate. Maybe gross incompetence but maybe intentional.Meanwhile destroy the middle class by closing bars and restaurants. Who cares they know how small business owners vote right...

Fraud?? There are people dying in our community from COVID. The hospital is stressed to its limits. This is not some abstract concept that you heard about on TV, this is real life. This is not some media driven fantasy, there are real dead people in our own community! People that we know!! People that we love!! For anyone to continue to say that it’s a hoax, or some bizarre conspiracy for government control or big pharma profits...you’re only fooling yourself. The fact is that you’re terrified of facing the reality of the situation around you, so you try to diminish it and convince yourself that it’s not real, and you reference things you see on TV to justify your insensitivity and insecurity. You accuse everyone else of being “tricked” or being “sheep”, but that’s only because you’re safe in your delusion; no one that YOU know is dead, so it’s not real in your world. But people in MY world have died, they’re still dead, and they will stay dead...I can’t tell them that it’s fake, or not a threat. I can’t tell the grieving people left behind, that it’s no big deal that their mother is dead, because it was really about a compromised immune system, not COVID, that my grandmother likely contracted because some selfish coward refused to consider anyone but themselves. I’m a decent person, and I wouldn’t wish my family’s pain on anyone, but I can tell you that if/when this virus affects those selfish cowards, I’m not going to feel very bad about it.

Go tear down a few more innocent statues, burn a few churches and businesses, do some more looting and kill a few innocent people. get it out of your system so you can then call for unity and peace and love. Hypocrites

I hope that 3:20, 6:56, 11:52, 9:01 and 12:17 are all the same miserable person, spitting all of the hate! Because if that’s 5 different people, we’re in bad shape around here. I’m amazed at the toxic vile reaction to people asking for consideration and respect for their neighbors. Even one person acting like that is pretty pathetic, but a whole group is beyond pathetic.

9:44, congratulations! You’re obviously a superior human. My grandmother was probably just a weak bitch. Oops, no, I take that back; my grandmother was an innocent victim, and it turns out that YOU are actually the weak bitch in this case. Glad you get to spend the holiday with your family. I’m just sorry that your family has to spend the holiday with you.
