McKean County Medication Drop Boxes 3rd Quarter Weight Collected

District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that, on October 7, 2020, the Attorney General’s Office collected the unused medication that had been deposited in the medication drop boxes placed throughout McKean County for this quarter.

For the 3rd quarter of 2020, the total weight collected was 134.8 lbs.
The medication drop boxes are available to the public at several locations: Bradford City Police Station; Bradford Township Police Department; Kane Borough Police Station; Sheriff’s Department (located inside the county jail); and the State Police Barracks.   The boxes were sponsored by the PA District Attorney’s Association and the PA American Water Company.
Detectives with the District Attorney’s Office collect the medication and it is properly weighed and discarded.

The weights collected from each box for this quarter were as follows:
Bradford City Police Station:                 42.4 lbs.            Bradford Twp. Police Department:    24.6 lbs.
Sheriff's Dept.:                                           37.8 lbs.            Kane Police Station:                            25.6 lbs.
State Police Barracks:                               4.4 lb.

The drop boxes are for anyone in our area to discard any unused medication they may have to prevent it from being used by anyone other than to whom it was prescribed as one step in preventing abuse.

Anyone who suspects illegal drug activity is encouraged to contact the McKean County Drug Task Force at MCDTFtip@gmail.com or (814) 887-3312.
