Petition Started Urging Kaleida Health System To Stop Proposed Gutting Of BRMC Medical Services

THOUSANDS OF NORTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIANS WILL LOSE CRITICAL MEDICAL SERVICES WITHIN A REASONABLE DISTANCE

BRADFORD – Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) and McKean County Commissioners Tom Kreiner, Carol Duffy and Cliff Lane are inviting area residents to sign on to a petition supporting Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and the services it provides to the community.

The petition was launched in response to last week’s announcement by Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS) that it planned to move all acute care and surgical services out of BRMC and to Olean General Hospital instead. BRMC would continue to operate an emergency room, some outpatient services and maintain 10 inpatient beds.

“This proposal would be devastating to our community,” Causer said. “It would make accessing critical health care services more difficult than it already is for our residents, and it would lead to a significant loss of jobs. We really can’t afford to lose such a substantial part of our hospital.”

“We are all deeply concerned about our hospital and the people who rely on it to protect their health and well-being,” said Kreiner, chairman of the board of commissioners. “Many people have asked us how they can make their voices heard in support of the hospital. This petition drive is one way people can get involved.”

The “Save Our Community Hospital” petition gives area residents a way to voice their concerns about the proposal and show their support for BRMC. The petition reads as follows:

“We, the undersigned, call on the board of directors of the Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS) to cancel its plans to transfer all acute care and surgical services away from Bradford Regional Medical Center.

“This proposal would have a devastating impact on our community, further reducing our access to critical health care services, increasing existing transportation problems for many residents seeking care, and cutting valuable jobs.

“We call on UAHS and its parent, Kaleida Health, to live up to their commitments to invest in our community and enhance the health care services available to us here in Bradford.”

People interested in signing the petition may do so by visiting www.RepCauser.com. It is also available at Causer’s Bradford office, located at 78 Main St. Hard copies of the petition are also available for download at www.RepCauser.com.

If Causers name wasn`t affiliated with this petition I would happily sign it.

I m sorry, but you are a state representative that has powers beyond a petition. Grow a set and put financial pressures on them to do the right thing in this community.

Bull. Has nothing to do with biden.

Those with 'vision' know that this is just the beginning of things to come.

Thanks Trump

The only reason this is happening now is because they know they can get away with it, now that a week, socialist government is coming. They didn't try this in the past because Trump was in office. Kiss your healthcare, jobs and health services good bye.

Well, health care in this country is a 'for-profit' business. When a for-profit business is not making a profit, management closes it down. There is no other choice. All of you geniuses out there, What would you do?

If that hospital wasn't worthless people would sign

I see Dim had to chirp in and blame everything on President Trump. Was in tears because they mentioned Not Elected Biden.

This is neither a Trump nor Biden thing. I am a nobody and I have known about this for over a year. Why all of a sudden is the state representative involved? Visibility and the acting that he has to show concern, but has no concern or he would have been involved over a year ago. Alone with the county commissioners. This is not new to them. If it gets to this point and they all claim they just found out, they need fired because they have not been doing their job prior to this. And this is just one item of concern.

Biden has nothing to do with this, what's wrong with you people??????

Quit bickering and do something positive for the community. Any pressure that can be brought to alter this decision is a positive for everyone in the area. We should be able to work together on some things.

Why is UAHS scaling back Bradford Hospital ? Because they aren't making money. $3 million in the hole last year, and then COVID hit, cancelling many elective surgeries which make them the most money. You do the math, and stop playing politics. This has little to do with politics and much to do with making their budget.

I thought they got a 20% increase for every covid patient ? Bradford is the covid capital of McKean County. Why aren`t they making any money ? This isn`t a political question but it needs to be answered.

Sadly both State and Federal governments allowed the Medical Facilities to become greedy. Their handouts without any accountability and allowing tax exemption status only fed the system to allow higher wages to those at the top! The Affordable Care Act of 2010 allowed health insurance companies to raise rates for the last 11 years!
Healthcare has improved greatly over the last 30 years, but unfortunately many running the business have become greedy the last 15 years!

They’re all greedy & could care less about the people !!! It’s all about filling their pockets !! The old saying is “Get involved in politics, you’ll become Wealthy !!!!!!”

I knew this was going to happen as soon as money fingers finan took over...look at his record..no facility he was ever involved in survived long after his exit..rumor back then was upmc was interested but not as long as he was involved. Does kriner remember this during his employment at brmc?

9:33:00 AM They don`t get 20% for every COVID case that is a bullshit rumor.

Perhaps if we had some version of socialized medicine like most of the rest of the free world we would not have this problem. Just saying.
