James Wescott 86 of Newfield, NY.

James Wescott

James Wescott passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Newfield, NY on February 22, 2021 at the age of 86 years old. 

James was born October 4, 1934 at home in Nelson, PA to parents Fredrick and Beatrice Wescott. He was the oldest of his siblings: Donald, Helen, Fredrick, Linda, and Annie, Wescott. He went to school in a one-room school house in Nelson, PA. He was married to Mary M. Barber in Middlebury Center and after his divorce married Emma J. Naylor of Elmira, NY. He resided a majority of his life in Lawrenceville, PA. 

He was a long-time employee of Corning Glass Works (CGW) in Corning, NY and retired after 65 years of dedicated service. He was proud of the fact he was the senior employee being employed by CGW the longest. In his younger years he enjoyed racing his stock car, the 409, deer hunting and working hard. After retiring you could always find him working in his flower gardens, on his tractor, birdwatching, watching old westerns and spending time with his K-9 companions. 

He is survived by his children: James C Wescott of Florida, Terry Wescott (Debbie) of South Carolina, Fred Wescott (Kelly) of North Carolina, Constance Cook (John) of Washington, George Hannon of Louisiana, Lorrie Cribb (Timothy) of PA, Jamie Martinez (Juan) of Louisiana, Jenny Henry (Joseph) of Oklahoma, and James W Wescott (Sarah) of New York. His grandchildren Nicholas, Terrance, Terrell, Tara, Tracey, Terri Ann, Jason, Nathan, Jordan, Jesslyn, David, Gage, Mia, Cynthia, Emily, and Kadin. He is also survived by multiple great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws, his friend Beverly and his faithful dog Bandit. 

He was predeceased by his parents Fredrick Guy Wescott and Beatrice Cooper Wescott. His siblings Fredrick Wescott, Helen Tillinghast, Linda Cease, his great granddaughter Ava Leigh and his is K-9 companions Brutus, Sampson, and Goliath. 

He will always be remembered as a hardworking, humble and honest man until the day he left this earth. He is gone but his memory will never be forgotten by his family and friends. 

Visitation will be held at Kenyon Funeral Home, 214 W. Main St., Elkland, PA Saturday, 4:00 – 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, 1:00 PM with Rev. Larry O’Dell officiating. His body will be laid to rest in Nelson Cemetery. www.kenyonfuneralhome.com.
