Think About It

Examine Yourself
by
Pastor B.J. Knefley

I’m being challenge right now. Not by anything specific such as an event or a person but simply life itself. I believe that we go through different phases of our lives. Perhaps it’s related to age or simply the different phase of life but I’m asking the questions related to who, what, where and why. Self-evaluation and examination are good as it helps us to keep on course. That’s assuming you’re on a course.

Some walk through life without a plan or course. They simply move from one day to the next without a thought about their connectedness to a larger picture. When different events happen in their life, they simply give it up to coincidence rather than consider that there might be a larger plan in play. I believe that it’s important to examine our lives and ask ourselves critical questions. That simply means to be introspective regarding our life and its journey.

Over the years I’ve encourage different people to do a life map. A life map is simply a record of where you’ve been and the events that have happened in your life. This map will help to give you a picture of where you’re headed. Through this exercise, you can often get a deeper understanding of what you need to be doing and focusing your life upon. It can also help you understand if the path that you’ve been on has been a healthy or a destructive one. Getting sidetracked by detours and side roads is all too easy, getting back on course is not.

Sometimes we find ourselves in a place and we wonder how we got there. The answer to that question is not always easy. Decisions and actions that we make long before we got to that place have set the stage for the place that we now find ourselves. That is why it’s so important for us to examine ourselves. Learning to ask ourselves soul searching questions can actually help us to change the course of our future. The path we choose is up to us. Think about it.

Destiny is how we get to our destination.

31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
