"Welcome to Your Library!" National Library Week, April 4-10, 2021:

On April 5, 2021, Port Allegany Mayor, George Riley, proclaimed support of the S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library by officially heralding in the start of National Library Week 2021.

The S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library joins libraries of all types across Pennsylvania and the nation in celebrating the many ways libraries build strong communities by providing critical resources, programs and expertise.

National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. Libraries are the heart of their cities, towns, schools, and campuses. They have public spaces where people of all backgrounds can come together and connect. Library programs encourage community members to meet to discuss civic issues and to work together using new technologies to learn and grow. Library staff also partner with other civic service organizations to actively engage with the people they serve, always striving to make sure the core needs of their communities are being met.
