David Craig Michalegko

David Craig Michalegko, 65, of Erie, PA died peacefully on Friday, July 23, 2021, at home with his family by his side after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.

David was born on October 8, 1955, in Wellsville, NY to the late Paul and Barbara (Costello) Michalegko.

Growing up in Genesee, PA, David attended and graduated from Northern Potter Jr/Sr High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He spent

his enlisted time in Germany. Upon his discharge from the military, he relocated to Erie where he has since resided. He worked in several local manufacturing companies as a machinist with over 25 years with the Plastek Group.

A private individual David enjoyed time with his family, reading, old black and white westerns, and doing crossword puzzles which he claimed his father “got him into”. A tough exterior covered a kind, caring spirit and heart. David was a long-time member of St. Julia’s Catholic Church and was a devout Catholic.

He is proceeded in death by his mother, father, and sister, Susan Michalegko.

Those grieving his passing include his siblings; Paula Michalegko (Chuck Guagliardi) of St. Augustine, Fl, Pamela Michalegko of Arlington, VA, Richard (Maria) of Naples, FL, Joseph (Cheryl) of Erie, and Joan Todd (William) of Erie. Also, mourning his passing are five nephews and three nieces.

As per David’s wishes, no viewing hours will be observed, and the funeral mass and burial will be private and at the convenience of his immediate family.
