Port Allegany Teen's Passing Mourned, Honored

Patrick Crants Sports Photography

09/13/2021 - It is with great sadness that I acknowledge the passing of 2021 graduate Hunter Whitney.  The loss of someone so young and with such a bright future ahead is incomprehensible, tragic and heartbreaking.

I never got to know Hunter as well as I have many other Gators over the years, but I will remember his smile, his positivity, and his great sense of competitiveness.

They best way I can think of to honor him at this time is not in mourning his passing, but in giving thanks that we had the chance to know him.  From the other postings I've been reading there is no doubt that he was loved by his classmates and touched the lives of those around him.  You will be missed.  Thank you for the memories, and for the all too brief time we got to spend with you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and the many lives you have touched.

Agree this is so heart breaking, too young to go too soon, nice looking young man too, I didn’t know him, I feel the pain of his family & my prayers are being lifted up for them. God gained an angel 😇

Taken from his family, friends and community far too soon! This youngman will forever be remembered - a kind youngman that made a monumental impression on so many of us. Unbelievably saddened by the news of his passing. May God bless your precious Soul Hunter! May you fly high with the Angels - keep that beautiful smile shining down on us as you did when you were with us!

This is terrible & horribly sad. What did he die from, if I might ask?

Gonna Miss Him💔

His name was Josiah was it not? That is what the news article stated, or was Hunter his middle name? A tragic loss nonetheless.
