STAGE FRIGHT AND GUESTS TO PERFORM MUSIC FROM THE LAST WALTZ CONCERT IN TRIBUTE TO THE BAND THIS FRIDAY, NOV. 26 IN WELLSBORO

At 7 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 26, Stage Fright and guests will perform selections from The Last Waltz, one of the most spectacular events in rock history, given on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1976 by the Canadian-American roots rock group known as The Band.

The concert will be in the Coolidge Theatre at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro.

The Last Waltz was presented in the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, California, the same venue where The Band first debuted in 1968.

The 1976 concert opened with "Up On Cripple Creek" and continued with other hits by The Band such as "The Shape I'm In”, "It Makes No Difference", "Life is A Carnival", "Weight” and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." It ended with them performing "Don't Do It (Baby, Don't You Do It)."

Invited to perform with them for The Last Waltz were the musical collaborators and significant influencers from every stage of the group's career, such as Ronnie Hawkins, Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Neil Diamond, Bobby Charles, and Paul Butterfield.

The members of Stage Fright are: Joe Callahan of Wellsboro on guitar; Sean Monroe of Horseheads, N.Y. on bass guitar; Mike Watkins of Addison, N.Y. on keyboards, organ, accordion, mandolin and fiddle; and Mike Nickerson on drums and Joe Narde on percussion, both of Corning, N.Y.

Joining Stage Fright for this show are musicians from Mansfield, Wellsboro and Westfield, Pennsylvania and Corning, N.Y. Scott Turner will perform The Band’s “When I Paint My Masterpiece” and Neil Young’s “Four Strong Winds”. Manny Quinones will sing and play Muddy Waters’ “Mannish Boy” and Van Morrison’s “Caravan”. Pete Thompson will perform Bob Dylan’s “Baby Let Me Follow You Down” and Neil Diamond’s “Dry Your Eyes”. Molly Cary will sing Nell Young’s “Helpless” and Karin Knaus, “Evangeline” by Emmylou Harris. Houston Baker will perform Eric Clapton’s “Further On Up the Road”. Dave Driscoll will play various instruments during some of the songs.

The concert is BYOB with audience members encouraged to reserve a table, bring their own favorite beverages and snacks and sit with family and friends to enjoy the music.

Admission is $25. Children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult; however seats must be reserved to accommodate them.
