Causer, Local Officials to Dedicate Tec. 5 C. Virgil Voorhees Memorial Bridge
WHAT: The bridge on State Route 4021 over the Honeoye Creek in Sharon Township, Potter County, is being designated the Tec 5 C. Virgil Voorhees Memorial Bridge. Voorhees grew up in a home on Honeoye Road just outside of Shinglehouse. He served as a driver and radioman for the first platoon headquarters of Battery A, 155th Airborne Anti-Aircraft Battalion, United States Army. On March 24, 1945, he was killed instantly by enemy artillery fire as he was driving his jeep across open terrain in Germany.
WHO: Rep. Martin Causer; Mike Pepper, Potter County director of Veterans Affairs; members of the Voorhees family; local officials; members of American Legion Post 530; area veterans; and community members.

Female Not Charged In Shooting Last August in Foster Township
Investigation Closed into Non-deadly Shooting
On June 11, 2021, McKean County District Attorney Stephanie L. Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that the police investigation into a non-deadly shooting in Foster Township that occurred on August 16, 2020 has concluded.
Police initially responded to a call describing an assault on a female caller by a known male outside a residence on Harrisburg Run in the early morning hours.
Foster Township Police and Bradford City Police responded. The male had left the scene prior to police arrival. Minutes after police left the scene, they were called back again for a non-deadly shooting by the female.
Foster Township Police conducted interviews and completed a thorough investigation that included assistance from Bradford City Police, Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Services Unit, the Pennsylvania State Police Crime Lab, K9 searches by K9’s with the McKean County Drug Task Force K9 Unit and the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department, and the District Attorney’s Office.
At this time, all reports have been received. The investigation revealed that a male was hit by a single bullet in the lower body. Based on a review of the evidence and relevant statutes, the female will not be charged in the shooting.
The male, Christopher Horton, has been charged with Simple Assault. Foster Township Officer Eric Neiswonger is the lead investigator on the case.
Bark Peelers Cancelled For 2021 at PA Lumber Museum

It is with a heavy heart that the PA Lumber Museum would like to announce that there will not be a Bark Peelers' Festival this year. Vendors and other participants will be receiving letters in the mail in the coming days with a refund of any deposits paid.
The museum will be OPEN on the July 4th weekend; Friday July 2 through Sunday July 4, from 10 AM to 4 PM. If you will be in the area we hope that you will visit.
Thank you for your continued support and patience as we persevere on the difficult journey of recovery from the effects of COVID-19. We are certainly planning for the return of Bark Peelers' Festival in July 2022.

Lane Restrictions Start Next Week on Interstate 180 in Delaware and Turbot Townships, Northumberland County
Montoursville, PA – Montoursville, PA – Motorists who travel Interstate 180 are advised that several construction projects continue next week between the Route 54 interchange in Delaware Township and the Interstate 80 interchange in Turbot Township, Northumberland County.
On Monday, June 14, the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, will be placing traffic control devices along both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 180 in preparation for the mill and resurfacing project between the Interstate 80 interchange in Turbot Township and the Route 54 interchange in Delaware Township. Motorists can expect the left (passing) lane to be closed in both directions.
Glenn O. Hawbaker is the primary contractor for this $8.9 million project which includes mill and resurface of Interstate 180, replacement of the Route 1006 (Eighth Street) bridge, and rehabilitation to the bridges on Interstate 180 that span Route 44, and drainage work on Route 254 under Route 147.
Work on this project is expected to be completed by the end of November 2021, weather permitting.
