Jack H. Johnson

Jack H. Johnson, 74, of Shinglehouse, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 13, 2022 with his family by his side.

Born February 23, 1947, in Bradford, he was a son of the late C. Howard and Mary Ann Crandall Johnson, who preceded him in death.

He graduated from Bradford Area High School in 1965. Jack served his country proudly in the United States Air Force from 1966-1970.

On May 18, 1968, in Grand Forks, ND, he married Loretta Mae (Clark) Johnson, who survives.

After his honorable military discharge, Jack was employed by Sherman Refrigeration and then with Wilson Air Conditioning. In 1983, Jack began his own business, Johnson Air Conditioning and was self-employed for 36 years. He retired after 50 years in the air conditioning business.

Jack was a hard-working man who worked from sun-up to sun-down. He was meticulous and well-organized. Jack loved antique cars. His first car was a 1937 Plymouth. He thoroughly enjoyed riding around in his 1955 Plymouth Belvedere and 1955 Imperial. Jack loved to participate in the automobile flea markets in Dunkirk, NY and Hershey and sell his “fleas”.

He was a faithful member of the Country Chapel Baptist Church in Eldred and he always looked forward to the Friday evening men’s prayer time. He dearly loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Loretta, three children, Nanette (Mark) Miller, of Newalla, OK, Natalie (William) Dietze, of Palmer, AK, and Jack (Tana) Johnson, of Stoneville, NC. Jack dearly loved his grandchildren: Matthew, Megan, Michael, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Nathan, MaraLyn, EmmaLee and Bayleigh Kate; and his great grandchildren: Zachary, Jackson, McKayla, Madilynn, Mackenzie, Justice, Gideon, and Noah, one brother-in-law Jay Gorton, of Bradford, two, nephews, Dennis Gorton, and Jeffrey Gorton. They all dearly loved him.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, an infant brother, Carl Johnson, one sister, Judith Gorton, and one grandson, Jesse David Johnson.

Friends will be received on Monday, January 17, 2022, from 5 to 7 pm at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 33 South Avenue.

Private funeral services will be held for the family with Rev. Jack Johnson and Rev. Bruce Ireland co-officiating.

Military Honors will be accorded by members of the Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 108, at Willow Dale Cemetery.

R.I.P jack you played a big part in my life i lived across the street from wilson air conditioning you drove that old hump pack and got me into cars helping me to learn n love cars witch led me to my job as a autobody tech thank you jack

Jack was a great guy. I’m sad knowing he’s no longer here. A perfect gentleman and Christian. Knew him from when I worked. His bless the family.
