Working Structure Fire at 44 North Second Street in Allegany

At 12:09 PM on Friday, Allegany & mutual aid companies are responding to a structure fire at 44 North Second Street.

1/14/22 12:02 Allegany Fire toned, along with AREMS, Westons Mills, and Knapp Creek, for a structure fire at 44 N Second St in the Village of Allegany. Allegany Chief arrived on scene and declared a working fire, which brought Westons and Knapps Creek to the scene. Engine 31 arrived on scene and started an aggressive interior attack. Engine 32 was less then a minute behind and laid in from the plug. The crew then went to work with ventilation. The primary search was negative and the house found to be unoccupied at the time of the fire. Due to the age of the house, the balloon frame build, and plaster and lath building materials, it was a very manpower intensive fire. Responding to the scene included firefighters from the City and Town of Olean, Limestone, Portville, Hinsdale, and Cuba. Also assisting on scene were Catt Co Emergency Services, Allegany PD, NYS Police, and Allegany Fire Ladies Auxiliary. Bolivar and Salamanca provided standby services for various departments. The investigation is currently underway by the Allegany Fire and Cattaraugus County investigation teams. There were no injuries reported.
