County Line 4-H Met Last Sunday

County Line 4-H had their meeting last Sunday February 13 at 1:00 at the Sartwell Creek Union Church.

Natale, Mattie, and myself were there. Our clubs future 4-Her Grayce attended too. Ruth and mom was running the meeting.  We were working on getting ready for our window display. We worked on bi  products. They are made out of bones, blood, organs , hair, skin, fats and hooves.

All the livestock had fertilizer in common and sausage casings. Well, except rabbits. Their intestines are a little too small for casings.  It is amazing we use these bi products in everyday life from tires to film. We use milk, meat and hide too. Here are some interesting facts about some bi products from these livestock.

Rabbits: Pet food and Pelt
Beef: Insulin and Chewing Gum
Sheep: Lanolin and Anti-venom
Goats: Candles and Dairy Products
Pigs: Medicine and Surgical Sutures

We then ate snacks and Mattie and I built a fort for play time. We will be putting up the window display next month at MAD Barbershop in Port Allegany.  Please stop and see our work personally and get a haircut.  I will be writing a newsletter when it is up but until then stand by until next time.

BRMC, OGH welcome Olean native to orthopedic team

Bradford Regional Medical Center and Olean General Hospital announce the appointment of Steven Pancio, MD, orthopedic surgeon, to Upper Allegheny Health System’s physician network, Bradford Regional Medical Services. He joins the orthopedic practice of Aubrey Ashie, DO.

After graduating from Olean High School, Pancio went to SUNY at Buffalo where he earned a medical degree. He completed an internship and residency at the Mayo Clinic and a sports medicine fellowship at Tahoe Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Before returning to the area, he worked at Bone and Joint Specialists of Winchester (Va.), PC.

“My wife, Brooke, and I wanted to move back to Olean because we know that this is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. We have had the opportunity to live in various parts of the country, but we always missed the people here and the sense of community that this area provides,” Pancio said.

“I want to treat patients like they are my family. By providing knowledgeable, down-to-earth, personalized orthopedic care to each patient, I believe that I can help make this hospital a destination orthopedic center,” he said.
“We’re fortunate when we can bring physicians back to their hometown to care for patients who are friends and neighbors in our community. I’m proud to welcome Dr. Pancio home and to our hospital family. He will be a major asset in broadening our orthopedic scope and allowing even more patients to be cared for right at home in our region,” said Jill Owens, MD, chief medical officer, UAHS.

In addition to general orthopedic and sports medicine care, he is experienced in a variety of orthopedic procedures including, shoulder and knee arthroscopy (rotator cuff, labral, ACL, meniscus, ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, minimally invasive procedures), anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacement, partial and total knee replacement, anterior total hip replacement, trauma surgery (upper and lower extremity fractures, adult/pediatric fractures), and hand surgery (carpal/cubital tunnel).

Dr. Pancio is currently accepting new patients at 116 Interstate Pkwy., Suite 32, Bradford, Pa., and 2420 Constitution Ave., Olean, NY. Appointments can be made by calling 814/368-1020 or 716/373-5070.
